Verbal Classification
Verbal Classification test presents a set of three words. The student is asked to select a fourth word from a list of 5 words that goes with the set of original words. An example is shown below:
1.  Review the three words in bold letters and determine why they are similar. Select the word from the five choices that is most similar to the bold words.

Generally, answering verbal classification questions requires the following skills:
  • Fluency of English words. The more words you know and understand, the better you will be able to handle the questions;
  • Inductive reasoning skill, i.e. the skill to go from the specific to the general. In this case, students will need to analyze the three given words and find what are common between them.

The most important skill in answering this type of question is how to find what is common between the three given words or how to classify words.
